Update 1 - The Olympic Games

I’ve watched a few games of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Great atmosphere here, and fantasic performances by the athletes. For more information on my Olympic experience, check out the photos in my photo gallery HERE.

Update 2 - My New Job

Been working here for 6 weeks now. I just found my way around the Lenovo HQ building here lol. It’s huge, compared with the EDS site(an HP company now?!). The job is driving me crazy sometimes but I think I’m getting used to the Beijing ‘country-side’ life here. The stuff I’m doing is not as easy as what I would have expected lol. I’m drowning in the meetings and conference calls. Seriously, Meetings here never end. The department I’m working for is full of geeks. Yeh, they are like proper GEEKS, No joke. Have you ever met a Chinese Geek that talks nothing but online games, gadgets or computers? There are loads in here. I met some cool folks here too. (Pro Evo - Winning Eleven players = Cook Kids!!!).  I’m still waiting for the ‘odd/even number plate regulation’ to go off, then I’ll be able to get my car and live like a King! Damn! I can’t wait…

上海女人不好娶。这是每个在上海的男人都有的共识。不管你是土生土长的上海男人，还是异乡 来的“打工仔”。甚至“港巴台巴”“鬼子鬼佬”，反正要娶上海女人做太太， 先得做好“吃得苦中苦，也难为人上人”的思想准备。 首先要过“追求”一关。大凡漂亮小姐，自有可以令男人“俯首称臣”的“特异功能”——而上海小姐尤盛。约会的节目，要层出不穷才好，生日的礼物，要出乎意料才行。

上海这地方土洋结合，所以算来算去，一年下来的”节日”还真不少。从年末算起，圣诞要有“大餐”，新年要有“派对”；农历

过 大年，“礼节性”外出旅游数天；转眼“情人节”又来了，不送玫瑰花是不行的。阳春三月“天堂游”（苏杭），清明时节去踏青，“五一”又是劳动节，一辆的士 过“沪宁”（高速公路）；“六一”家有小外甥，一同带去“动物园”；总算“七一”没“花头”，不巧又是“她”生日； “八一，九一”歇歇气，偶尔还要去“避暑”；转眼就是“十一”到，长长周末短短气；秋高气爽无暇望，眼看年底又来到。这些还是“小儿科”，说不定她忽然想 起要去香港、东南亚，一张机票就把你咽得够呛（幸好上海还没有开始流行“欧美游”）。大凡钱的事，也就好说，你有多少钱，就望望哪个“层面”的女孩，最多 早早摊牌，说声“没有”也好叫她“死心”。 Continue reading »
